Rorate Masses by Candlelight with Traditional Old Czech Rorates
5:45 AM – Regularly on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout Advent (No morning Mass at 7:15 AM on these days).
Advent Events and Liturgical Celebrations
December 1 – 1st Sunday of Advent
10:00 AM – Holy Mass with Renaissance Rorates sung by the Czech Madrigalists, including the blessing of Advent wreaths.
6:00 PM – Latin Mass with Gregorian chant.
December 4 – Advent Bible Hour
7:00 PM – Reflection on Scripture and selected passages from the Book of Exodus with Fr. Gorazd F. Krušina, O.Praem., at the Strahov Parish. (For more info: gorazd@centrum.cz)
December 8 – 2nd Sunday of Advent
10:00 AM – Holy Mass followed by a meeting of children with St. Nicholas and parish coffee in the monastery (around 11:00 AM).
7:30 PM – Meditative visual reflection by Abbot Daniel during Vespers with organ accompaniment by Vladimír Roubal.
December 14 – Advent Spiritual Retreat
9:00 AM – Spiritual retreat led by Fr. Hyacinth P. Kuchta, O.Praem. (ends at 2:30 PM).
December 15 – 3rd Sunday of Advent (Gaudete Sunday)
10:00 AM – Morning Holy Mass "Gaudete."
6:00 PM – Evening Mass featuring the Amici musicae antiquae choir, with works by G. P. da Palestrina and Renaissance motets.
December 18 – Concert by Pueri Gaudentes
7:30 PM – Concert in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, with Schola Strahoviensis and organist Vladimír Roubal.
December 22 – 4th Sunday of Advent
10:00 AM and 6:00 PM – Holy Masses held in the Summer Refectory of the monastery.
6:00 PM – Advent concert broadcast live by Czech Television from the basilica.
Christmas Eve (December 24)
7:15 AM – Morning Advent Mass.
4:00 PM – Christmas Vigil Mass (especially for families and children).
11:59 PM – Midnight Mass.
Additional Notes
- Confession: Available half an hour before evening weekday Masses and before morning Masses on Sundays throughout Advent. Individual arrangements can be made with a priest.
- Online Inspirations: Follow "Klášter premonstrátů na Strahově" on Facebook for regular spiritual insights into the Sunday readings of Advent.
- Eucharistic Adoration: Every Thursday after the 6:00 PM evening Mass, concluding with Compline (ends around 7:30 PM).
- Sunday Organ Recitals: Regular 30-minute organ sessions every Sunday at 12:00 PM.
