Regular Devotions

Devotions, while a private form of prayer, nevertheless prepare us in a certain way for the celebration of liturgy. They assist us in finding and internalizing a "sense of God," thus predisposing us to derive greater benefit from the sacraments.

Regular devotions prepare us for the communal celebration of liturgy and help us grow in our relationship with God.

Adoration

Eucharistic adoration is an expression of faith in the presence of Jesus in the consecrated host. It is associated with partial indulgences, and possibly plenary indulgences if it lasts at least half an hour. Adoration in our basilica usually takes place every Thursday after the evening Mass and concludes with the communal prayer of Compline (approximately 6:40 – 7:15 p.m.). The form of adoration is typically silent and is not accompanied by meditations.
